A heart of gratefulness

April, 2024

Dear Friends in Christ,

As I leave Floron this afternoon, it is always with a heart that is grateful beyond words to be a part of this community even for a brief time.  What their lives contain is many, many 'have nots' that we as Americans have access.  This brief trip feels like I have been here for many months.  The heat has been record breaking for many days.  Heat has been compounded by frequent, random rolling power outages throughout the country.  Yesterday and today, President Naboa said to close down throughout the country . . . there is no electricity and Columbia would not sell any.

However, Dra. Kerly said, "No, we will work. . . without electricity."  I was quite surprised at her firmness.  Thankfully, we all worked, and patients came; and the water technicians continued on a generator to purify, bottle and deliver water.

There is so much more to comment regarding this trip; however, we know another power outage is coming at any moment so I will save other events upon my USA return.  But I would ask you to pray for all of us, specifically the four water technicians.  Physical work in this heat is absolutely grueling and taxing. . . And also, for everyone's safety. . .. The number of shootings in Floron have escalated unbelievably. Hermana Monica Renhefo stopped to see me yesterday and said three were shot right outside of her home. . . and I could go on and on but you get the picture. Eliana shared with me that at lunch her husband, Pastor Gabriel said, "I want Jesus to come right now!"

At morning devotions, I said I leave with my prayers for their safety and endurance that are supported by many of you. . . This means so much to them.  Yes, we are running the race together that leads to Jesus Christ.

For now, Dios los bendiga,
